Useless Stat of the Day

The Miami Heat will sign Ray Allen, the all-time 3-Pt shooting champion, on Wednesday, away from the Boston Celtics.

The Heat were 20th in the league last year with 5.6 3-Point Field Goals made per game. Boston was 21st with 5.5. Ray Allen alone made 2.3 3PT last season. If you attribute Allen's 2.3 3PM to the Heat, Miami would jump up to a tie for 3rd most in the league with 7.9 3PM and Boston would drop to dead last in the NBA with 3.2 3PM.

While Ray Allen's field goal attempts in Boston would get distributed to other shooters, it is unlikely that Boston would actually drop that far down. However without Allen, Boston loses it's only reliable sharpshooter and it gives Miami another weapon to support LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
